With such a full events calendar happening all over Britain next year, lots of families could find it tough to fit in all the getaways they want to enjoy. So why not make an early start on spending some fun time together with a February half-term holiday?
The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the London Olympics and European football championships are all set to combine to make the summer of 2012 one which will mean heavy demand on many families’ time together – and before you know it, it’s quite possible that holiday getaways could get shunted to the sidelines. But a little cunning planning can ensure that this doesn’t have to be the case, and that time doesn’t just slip away as it can so easily do when there’s such a full programme of major events.
A February half-term break makes sense for lots of reasons. It’s a time before the children might start feeling the pressure of impending exams, so they’ll be able to fully relax and enjoy themselves, and as it isn’t one of the main holiday periods, a break for all the family can be experienced for considerably less than during those peak times.
At many of the country’s traditional seaside resorts, the cloak of winter will still be well in place, with lots of the attractions not yet open for their traditional season. But at a family holiday resort, there’s no such thing as an ‘off season’ – their business is to make sure that families have a great time, no matter when they can fit in their visit.
There’s plenty to do which can’t be spoiled by the weather, including having fun in the year-round temperature-controlled environment of Splash Waterworld, live shows featuring the children’s favourite TV characters, free indoor funfair, and free soft play areas.
And with each family holiday resort having just gone through a quieter period, visitors during February half-term will be the first to benefit from a programme of improvements which will have taken place, such as investment in dining areas and sports facilities to make them among the best on offer anywhere. There’s certainly no need for anyone to confine themselves to indoors, because if the weather behaves, there’ll be the chance to have free, unlimited fun on the adventure playground, and to try your hand at the latest big family craze, geocaching.
And of course, each family holiday resort is located at a prime spot close to the great British seaside, with plenty of other things to explore and experience nearby too.
