This includes Selge, where you can see a 2,000-year-old Roman amphitheatre in its full glory. You can walk up the steep steps of the ancient ruin and get some good views of the entire theatre, imagining the many shows that took place centre stage. You might also want to take a trip to Olimpos and see some eternal flames on the mountain top that never go out.
Of course, Antalya is most popular among holidaymakers for its vast number of beaches and there is plenty for you to choose from during your stay so that you can add variety to your break.Head to Alanya for soft-sand bays or visit Side for its marble Roman ruins and traditional Mediterranean atmosphere, as well as unspoiled beaches. Or, if you want to stay in the heart of Antalya, then Konvaalti Plaji could be an option. Its pebbly beach doesn’t have the silky golden sands like others nearby but it has blue flag status, meaning that families can rest assured its waters are clean and safe to swim in. There really is so much to see and do on the Turkish Mediterranean coast – from exploring its mountainous forests and taking a stroll through Roman ruins to laying your towel down on beautiful secluded bays. You could fill your break with exciting day-trips where you can see some magnificent natural and archaeological sights, or you could simply go for a swim in the turquoise waters and enjoy being in the Mediterranean Sea.
